Mini Implants IMTEC

Dental Mini Implants in Cloverdale and Surrey The Mini Implant consists of a miniature titanium implant that acts like the root of your tooth and a retaining fixture that is incorporated into the base of your denture, The head of the implant is shaped like a ball and the retaining fixture acts like a socket that contains a rubber O-ring. The O-ring snaps over the ball when the denture is seated and holds the denture at a predetermined level of force. When seated, the denture gently rests on the gum tissue. The implant fixtures allow for micro-mobility while withstanding natural lifting forces.

Mini implants can function as long-term supporting structures rather than as short-term or medium term devices. In fact, some have been successfully functioning in patients' jaws for several decades. In the past several years, some clinicians have been utilizing them for single tooth replacements and in crown and bridge cases.

Missing and broken teeth go beyond mere cosmetic flaws; they also hinder your ability to chew properly and speak clearly. Now, however, new technologies offer permanent attractive solutions for the restorations of missing teeth.

Strong, durable and virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth, dental implants are an excellent alternative when your removable dentures have become too uncomfortable or cumbersome to wear. What’s more, the use of dental implants allows damaged portions of the jaw to be reconstructed and restored.

An accepted procedure of the Canadian Dental Association, dental implants have undergone years of university-based research and clinical study. Our highly trained dental surgeons have the qualification and experience necessary to provide optimal patient results and has successfully placed many dental implants.

To ensure maximum function and a natural appearance, dental implants are placed using a two-step procedure. Both steps may be performed in-office under local anaesthetics with little or no discomfort. During the first step, our dental surgeons would place the implant within your jaw. Comprised of a tiny cylinder, this implant will become the “root” for your new supplemental teeth. Your implant will heal over the next three to six months, during which time you may continue to wear your old dentures or a temporary prosthesis.

As your implant heals, the bones within your jaw will actually adhere to the titanium structure. Called the “Osseo-Integration” effect, this phenomenon anchors the newly placed implant much like a natural tooth, providing the stability needed for chewing even the trickiest foods like apples and corn on the cob.

After your implant has completely healed, our dental surgoens will affix your permanent denture or a new crown. This permanent structure mimics the appearance of natural teeth and can be positioned using one of several methods.

If you would like a more secure fit while sill retaining the option to remove the structure for cleaning, your new implant may be structured using snaps, bars or clips. You may also choose to have your implant “locked” into place, only to be removed by your dentist.

Dental implants are an effective solution for the restoration of your teeth – whether you’re missing one tooth or several. Most people are candidates for dental implants and, as log as you’re in good health, your age will not prevent you from achieving the smile you deserve.
